ABOUT

Androgyny is Davidson College's oldest coed acapella group. The group was founded in 1998 by Carrie Frazier, a previous member of the all-female Delilah's, her roommate, Julie Hwang, and her friend, Yves Corbiere. According to Carrie, the original purpose and motivation for creating the group was “to shake things up a bit…to see more range in both creative performance and sound.”

Androgyny continues to strive for its founding ideals to this day. In addition, we promote diversity amongst our members in all aspects. Our current group includes students of all ethnicities, genders, sexualities, ages, nationalities, religions, abilities etc. Members have many other commitments besides of Androgyny and pursue an array of different degrees, most of which are outside of the musical sphere.

Today, our group focuses on creating the most dynamic and eccentric performances we can come up with for the Davidson Community to enjoy. We strive not only for musical excellence, but also to put a unique spin on new and old music alike that makes our concerts as creative and quirky as possible. Our sense of humor and willingness to dive into all things weird drives our creative process and allows us to constantly innovate. We welcome the opportunity to be different and think outside the box, and the Davidson community has been very supportive in our efforts.
